The global cryptocurrency market cap decreased by 5.52% over the past 24 hours, bringing total market valuation down to $2.59 trillion. Trading activity remained elevated across global desks, generating $105.56 billion in 24-hour volume as market participants reallocated capital into defensive positions.
XRP Leads High-Cap Altcoin Retreat
Among top ten assets by market capitalization, XRP recorded one of the sharpest contractions. The asset dropped 8.50% to trade at $1.30, sliding from a daily high of $1.46 down to a low of $1.27. The price movement reduced XRP's total market cap to $81.47 billion while driving over $5.89 billion in daily turnover.
Bitcoin Holds $75,000 Support Level
Bitcoin (BTC) demonstrated relative stability compared to major alternative cryptocurrencies, falling 2.58% to trade at $75,729. During the trading session, Bitcoin oscillated between an intraday peak of $77,715 and a trough of $75,038. Despite the price retreat, Bitcoin's market dominance expanded to 58.50% as capital shifted out of higher-beta tokens.
Layer-1 Assets Experience Broad De-risking
Widespread selling extended across the smart contract platform ecosystem, pulling several prominent Layer-1 tokens lower:
- Ethereum (ETH) slipped 4.05% to $2,399.87, with its market cap adjusting to $292.97 billion and market dominance standing at 11.26%.
- Solana (SOL) declined 4.44% to trade at $97.08, touching a 24-hour low of $96.07.
- Stellar (XLM) logged a 9.04% reduction, dropping to $0.1766.
Stablecoin Volumes Signal Defensive Positioning
Liquidity focused heavily in dollar-pegged assets during the market downturn. Tether (USDT) logged $68.79 billion in 24-hour volume, accounting for the vast majority of overall market turnover as traders sought safety in liquid stablecoins amidst broader spot price reductions.
